Quarterly Check-In

Hello,

Welcome to another stat filled quarterly check-in. I am officially done with study so now have more time and I can start posting here regularly.

I am still reeling that 2023 is over. Like where did the time go? 2023 was one of the hardest years but I am so proud of everything I’ve managed to achieve. To celebrate I am bringing the pie charts back! Yay for charts!

These stats look at all the books I’ve read in October, November & December. While I read them in 2023 not all the books have been released in 2023.

Reading Challenges

Goodreads

Goal: 100

Read: 167

Around the World in 52 Books:

Goal: 52

Read: 45

I am stupidly happy with how I am progress with my Around the World in 52 book challenge. I knew I was never going to finish all the prompts since some of them were so far out of my comfort zone and with how hard 2023 was to balance life and health issues, I just needed to read for comfort. I am hoping to push my reading boundaries next year.

I 100% stalled with my Finishing Series challenge and didn’t male any additional progress on this list of 20-ish books I’ve picked to read but I have finished off some other series that I in the middle of. Any series I manage to finish is a massive win in my book.

Star Ratings

I have had another amazing reading quarter and enjoyed the majority of the book I’ve read which I love for me! I gave 14 books a 12 stars rating, 19 received 4.5 stars rating, 10 have received 4 stars, 1 have received 3.5 stars and 4 recieved 3 stars.

I am so thrilled that that 3 stars is the lowest rating I’ve given this quarter. I am good at knowing which books will work for me.

My average rating is 4.4 stars.

5 star reads

Here are my 5 star reads from October, November & December!

Genres Read

I am did not really read outside of my favourite genres this quarter but I am okay with this given that I was in major need of comfort. My goal for next quarter is to hopefully read across a wider genre range which will get me tackling my physical TBR.

To break the genres down, I have read 19 romance books, 5 fantasy, 21 paranormal and 1 mythology book.

Target Audience

Wow this is just the saddest pie char I’ve ever seen. Out of 46 books I read this quarter all of them were written for an Adult audience.

I am hoping next quarter I can pick up some more middle grade and YA titles because I have a ton of books in these age categories on my shelves.

Formate

Digital books are reigning supreme was my favoured format again this quarter. Not a big surprise since I’ve been reading a lot of audiobooks and KU books. Audiobooks have been amazing in letting me read when I’m needing a break from the screen or having a bad pain day.

Also can we take a moment to see just how many ARC’s I got through. I am stupidly proud of that since it is a privilege to get an advance copy so I’m thrilled that I am prioritising them.

My guilt for not getting to my physical TBR is still here with me, riding at an all time high. My TBR jar is helping to get some of the physical books that have been on my TBR forever but there is also a ton of KU and audio tiles in there so it is a real lucky dip.

I read a total of 6 physical books (all of which were paperbacks) and 31 digital books (12 eBooks, 19 audiobooks and 9 eARCs).

Series or Standalone

No surprise to see that I’ve read more series book than standalone since a lot of the genres I read tend to publish more series. I am loving seeing that I’ve read way more sequels than first books in a series. My plan of dedicating 1 month a quarter to focus on reading sequels and finishing series is helping. I will be bringing this forward into 2024.

I read 39 series books (12 first books and 27 sequels) compared to 7 standalones.
