I give a star ratings from 1 to 5 stars, including half stars. I generally don’t give a lot of 1 – 2.5 stars because I do DNF books.
1 star – Hated it. There is nothing redeemable about this book. Waste of time
1.5 stars – Didn’t like it. There is normally one element of the book I enjoyed. For example the writing style, characterisation.
2 stars – Meh. I don’t really have any feeling towards the book.
2.5 stars – It was okay. Probably not a book I would go back to or read more from if it’s part of a series.
3 stars – Enjoyable read. Enjoyable reading experience. I didn’t love it and I didn’t dislike it.
3.5 stars – Pretty good. Generally one of those books that yeah there was some issues but didn’t detract from the reading experience. Would still recommend.
4 stars – Like it. Any flaws were relatively minor and/or did not detract significantly from the work.
4.5 stars – Really liked it. The story enriched me, and I have a variety of things that I can praise in a review, and I can find no real fault with them
5 stars – Love it. I adore this book with my being! I couldn’t put it down and can’t stop thinking about it.
