“But maybe that’s the point. We won’t ever feel quite ready to risk ourselves for love, and we should do it, anyway.”
She was looking for quiet.
She found them instead.Starlight Grove needs a new Lighthouse Keeper and Olive Autumn Harvest needs a fresh start. Preferably one with as much solitude as possible. So, her new job and isolated ocean cottage is perfect—except for the eccentric, meddling townspeople, and the cat who’s adopted her.
When the town wins a grant for lighthouse restoration, Olive is forced to let the contractors into her space…a company comprised of three hot alphas:
Easton, her golden retriever stalker.
Lars, the steady, protective viking.
And Finn, who’s hiding a pain that matches her own.
Suddenly, these guys are everywhere—and they’re completely unfazed by Olive’s prickly personality as they try to care for her, protect her, and court her.
But everyone in this relationship is holding on to secrets… and it might not just be the lighthouse that needs restoration.
A Pack for Autumn was the cozy pick-me-up I needed. This world has me completely hooked. I normally am not one for a small-town romance, but this book had me ready to pack up and move to Starlight Grove. The way Olive, Finn, Lars, and Easton form a safe space for each other makes me swoon. I loved every second!
Olive needs a fresh start and hopes to find a place where she can live in isolation as much as possible. When a job for a Lighthouse Keeper comes up in Starlight Grove, she jumps at the chance. The lighthouse’s location, far from town, promises the solitude she desire. However, her plans for isolation are disrupted by the nosy townsfolk and the strange cat that seems determined to adopt her. The town wins a grant to restore the lighthouse, forcing a restoration company to invade Olive’s space. The contract for the project has gone to a local company run by three alphas: Easton, Lars, and Finn. Undeterred by Olive’s standoffish demeanour, they do everything they can to win her over.
I am so thankful that Emilia Emerson weaves in chronic illness representation in her books. Because people with chronic illnesses and disabilities deserve love and deserve to see someone who’s like them in a romance. So, thank you, Emilia, from the bottom of my heart! Olive suffers from a condition that affects omegas and is like PCOS. I found the depiction of how Olive struggles with the unpredictability of her illness and anxiety and feelings of being “too much” or “not normal” to be realistic. On top of this, she is also dealing with the loss of her parents. Olive’s family were fishermen, and she spent most of her life at sea, making it difficult for her to make friends and socialize. I loved watching her gradually let down her walls and find her place in the town.
The guys in the pack are in a tense situation. They seem to have fallen out of sync since Finn’s grandparents’ passing. After seeing his grandfather succumb to grief after losing his bonded mate, Finn decides to never bond with an omega. He can’t bear the thought of someone having that kind of control over him. He knows Lars and Easton want to find an omega to call their own. Lars is obsessed with a girl he scented years ago, while Easton is casually stalking the new lighthouse operator. Finn is delaying discussing this with them because he doesn’t want to lose the only family he has. Lars is a big softie, and I love him for it. He is the leader of this pack and will do anything within his power to protect his family. I love the way he mediates between Finn and Easton. And then we have Easton, our golden retriever who’s 100% obsessed with Olive and is doing his best not to come on too strong and scare her away. He has taken part in some light stalking to orchestrate chance meetings with her.
This is a why choose romance, which we all know I love. Despite the current tension, I adore the pack dynamic between Lars, Easton and Finn. I love how they sit down and talk about their plans to woo Olive. The courting was so sweet — even if a grumpy bookstore owner led Lars astray with his courting gift. The way they do little things to care for her — such as upgrading her bike and installing lights on a dangerous driveway — had me swooning. Finn treated Olive poorly in their first encounter. I love the petty revenge she dished out. And the way they came together to talk about their fears and their past made me swoon. I love a caretaking scene, and we have some in here when Olive has a bad day, and I just swooned the entire time. If you love some steam, never fear because Emilia delivers with a truly fire heat scene. The dirty talk in here left me needing to cool down.
Starlight Grove is a picture-perfect small town. It gives you all the Gilmore Girls vibes. I loved how the other omegas took Olive under their wings. Her prickly nature did not deter them at all. They fully embrace her as part of the group. I’m so excited to see the rest of the girl’s romances. And let’s not forget the most important character — the real MVP — Felix, the town mayor and resident cat, who possesses some serious matchmaking skills. I enjoyed how he subtly engineers Olive’s connections with her guys, especially when they were being stubborn.
The minute I saw the cover of this book, I had been dying to read it. Now that I’ve read it, I can safely say A Pack for Autumn lived up to all my expectations. If you love, why choose omegaverse and want all the cozy vibes A Pack for Autumn is the book for you. After the epilogue, I am dying to get to A Pack for Winter — Eliana Lee’s first book in this shared universe. It sounds perfect for Christmastime. I am counting down the days until I can pick it up!
