“You deserve the world, starlight, and if living without us is the way to get it, that is the most important thing of all.”

I will start by saying that I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own. Thank you so much to J.C. for sending a copy my way!

This is a sequel; I will try and keep my review as spoiler free as possible but just be wary if you haven’t read first book, This Fate that Guide Us.

The mask is off and her secrets have been revealed.

Omen Powell never imagined she’d meet her Fated mates on the job. Nor did she imagine their relationship would quickly come crashing down around them.

Now, this omega has been rejected. Her identity leaked for the world to see.

With her anti-designation family hunting her down, she’s on the run and battling something few omega’s survive. Her life is on the line and the only ones who can save her are the men who abandoned her.

Primordial Covenant has spent years searching for their Fated omega, but she isn’t who they thought she was. Blinded by their pasts, they walk away, leaving her on her own.

When they realize the mistake they made, will they be able to win their omega back, or has Fate decided this pack is knot meant to be?

These Bonds that Unites Us was a stellar conclusion to Omen’s story. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time to see what would win, Pack Graves grovelling and proving that they were worthy of Omen or Omen’s chemical rejection. We had all the angst, grovelling and healing. I was here for it.

The cliffhanger ending of This Fates that Guide Us left me completely lost on what would happen next in the story. Pack Graves as well and truly messed up. Omen’s secrets hurt them, and they rejected her, causing her body to shut down. Rejection can kill Omega. Being rejected from her fated mates is killing Omen, despite not having a fully formed bond. Omen receives medical care; however, it only postpones the unavoidable. With nothing to lose, Omen risked her life and headed back home to her dangerous and prejudiced father to help Federal agents get a confession which would shut down the anti-designation cult. The mission is dangerous. When the body cam footage goes live, Pack Graves realises their mistake. But is it too little too late?

Omen is going through the most. Gone is the happy, if a little cautious girl living her best life after landing her dream job as a tour photographer from her favourite band. Omen has the biggest heart. She infiltrates her family’s cult, to rescue fellow omegas from her father. Federal agents are monitoring her and waiting for her father’s confession.

It was a shame that Omen almost dying was what it took for the guys to see past their own hurt and anger and understand that she’s been in witness protection. Her hiding her past has less to do with keeping information from them and more with keeping her alive. The pack’s fracturing because of conflicting ideas about Omen. Nebula was a pain caused way more issues because of his family history with that cult. I appreciated he understood how harmful his actions were to Omen and the rest of the pack and sought therapy to deal with his trauma. While Nebula’s actions were the most extreme, Callisto, Nexus and Titan all had a part to play and appreciated that they took the time to process why Omen’s omission of truth triggered them and they did their best to understand her preceptive. Also, it took them a long time to figure out that with their band and the anonymity around their identity, they were also hiding secrets from Omen.

This romance has a ton of angst. I appreciated how cautious Omen was about diving back into her relationship with Pack Graves. She knows that her best chance of survival is to bond with the pack as her doctor says it will help to refuse the chemical rejection, but she’s terrified that something will cause them to change their mind and reject her again. The pack understands that words alone aren’t enough to convince her. They must prove themselves as worthy mates. Lucky for them, Omen’s doctor recommends that she live with them to help stabilise her condition. We have some fantastic, forced proximity. I adore the way the guys slowly woo and court her while also giving her space. We have a ton of grovelling! It was perfect and, honestly, the least they could do after almost killing her.

I am interested in J.C. Belenac’s form of omegaverse. It’s a balance of dark and sweet. There is a lot of danger in this world because of the anti-designation groups publicly trying to take control of omega and alpha rights. On the sweet side, I enjoyed that outside of these hate groups; we have a queer and poly normative world. I loved the fated mates element in here. In particular, the fated mates can communicate by writing on their skin.

If you are an Omegaverse fan looking for a new author and world to try out, I highly recommend this duet. I have my fingers and toes crossed that we get to see Hannah and Bea’s stories. I am excited to see what J.C. Belenac releases next.
