Quarterly Check-In

Hello,

Welcome to another stat filled quarterly check-in. And we are a little delayed mostly because I lost track of time and refuse to believe that we are at the end of April? Seriously, where did the time go. If there is anything you can count on me for is that these quarterly posts are consistently late.

To celebrate the end of the quarter, I am bringing the pie charts back! Yay for charts!

These stats look at all the books I’ve read in January, February & March. While I read them in 2025 not all the books have been released in 2025.

Overall, I think I’ve had a strong start to the reading year and have made fantasic progress with most of my goals. Some need a little extra work *cough* clear a shelf and buzzword titles *cough* buuuut we still have 3 quarters left of 2025 so here’s hoping we see some progress in quarter 2.

Star Ratings

I’ve has a great start to the year and I’ve read 6 more books then quarter 1 last year. I’ve also found some amazing reads. I’ve been having a lot of fun this quarter. I gave 11 books a 5 stars rating, 17 received 4.5 stars rating, 14 have received 4 stars and 4 have received 3.5 stars.

My lowest rated books were 3.5 stars which in my personal rating system is still a good book. 3.5 stars is reserved for books I think are pretty good. So this is a big win!

My average rating is 4.4 stars.

5 star reads

Here are my 5 star reads from January, February & March!

Genres Read

Romance has returned to number one genre of the quarter, which is surprising because when I think back on all the books I’ve read I would think either fantasy romance or paranormal romance would win but here we are. This year I did split omegaverse from the paranormal catageory so it will be interesting to see how many straight up paranormal books I end up reading this year.

To break the genres down, I have read 19 romance, 10 fantasy romance, 8 omegaverse, 4 paranormal, 2 fantasy, 1 historical fiction, 1 mythology and 1 short story collection.

Target Audience

And this sad pie chart is less sad then it has been in previous quarters. I think I will swap out this stat next quarter. I’m in my 30s now and don’t find myself drawn to picking up YA or middle grade titles. I’m thinking instead to include either where I source the books from or if the authors is new to me or not.

For a breakdown, 45 books where written for an adult audience and 1 was YA. The YA book I read was Immortality: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz.

Formate

I am still feeling behind on my ARCs but glad to see it’s my second most read format. I am still being mindful of the number of ARCs I’m signing up for and will do some kind of reading challenge/vlog to get through my backlog.

I am also missing reading physical books. I have some annual leave and a whole stack of public holidays coming up in quarter 2 so fingers crossed I can pick up some physical books.

I read a total of 6 physical books (4 paperbacks) and 40 digital books (9 eBooks, 21 audiobooks and 10 eARCs).

Series or Standalone

I am loving that I am continuing to priorities series. Thank god for my new reading vlog series, The Completion Chronicles, which is helping me get through my series. I am going to try my best to ensure that I am prioritising reading series and most importantly finishing series since I would like to reduce the number of series I’m in the middle of which currently is sitting out *cough* 124 *cough*.

I read 45 series books (20 first books and 25 sequels) compared to 1 standalone.
