“Our hearts are dark, and our spirits strong.”
I will start by saying that I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own. Thank you so much to E.P. Bali for sending a copy my way!
I will try and keep my review as spoiler free as possible but just be wary if you haven’t read the first four books Her Feral Beasts, Her Rabid Beasts, Her Psycho Beasts & Her Tortured Beasts.
First he came for my mother.
Then, he came for me.
Now he wants to take everything.
My mates have been stolen from me. With rage ringing in my ears and fire in my veins, it’s up to me to show the world why I am the regina of the Boneweaver pack.
But my fifth mate, my enigma, my beast shrouded in darkness has been hiding things from everyone. He is bound to my father in a way that is impossible to undo. What secrets lie in his past?
The final stand approaches and all things end in the shadows…
Her Monstrous Beasts was the perfect ending for Aurelia and her monstrous mates. Did this book hurt my feelings? Yes. But did it piece my heart back together? Also, yes. E.P. Bali had my emotions in a chokehold for every moment of this wild ride. I was giggling, swooning and crying all over the place. And I was living for it.
So much happened, but I’ll keep it vague since this is the last book in the series. We thankfully pick up after the torturous ending of Her Tortured Beasts (pun fully intended). Aurelia has been beaten down constantly, but our girl gets back up. This time, she’s ready to annihilate her enemies. She’s ready to prove that she is the strongest animalia and she’s no longer a prize to be sold to the highest bidder. Between Aurelia being reunited with her pack and gearing up for the last battle, she finally learns more about her last mate, Ghoul.
Ghoul is the last mate standing. He is our pitch black, snake daddy. I’m not going to lie. I wasn’t 100% sure how I would feel about Ghoul, especially considering all the things this man has done to Aurelia. But I of little faith was proving wrong. I have emotional whiplash from how fast I switched sides and became his man’s number one fan. Thanks to Aurelia’s serpent magic, we get glimpses of Ghoul’s past and see how he, too, was manipulated by the Cobra King just like Aurelia was. However, instead of clinging to humanity and empathy as Aurelia did, he fed into the darkness. My jaw dropped at the reveals—and if you know, you know. They made me question everything. I want to reread the series to see if I could pick up any little clues.
I adore that the rest of the pack is not quite ready to bring Ghoul into the fold, which is understandable since they’ve been on opposite sides from the get-go. But, while there is some alpha posturing and threats thrown around, they don’t pressure Aurelia to reject Ghoul. Xander is the real MVP of the pack. Thank the gods for him; otherwise, I don’t think Lyle, Savage and Scythe would’ve returned to Aurelia unscathed. While the guys are all kinds of dangerous and unhinged, their absolute care and devotion to Aurelia had me swooning all over the place.
I’m not going to lie; that final battle just about broke me. I spent the last chapters trying to read through tears. Brace yourselves. E.P. Bali holds no punches. No one is safe. Aurelia has already experienced so much heartache and pain. It’s not surprising there was even more pain to wade through before reaching our happily ever after, but it makes that ending sweeter for it.
I adore the cameo we get from E.P. Bali’s other series, The Warrior Midwife. I am so intrigued by the characters we meet. So excited to pick this up.
Her Vicious Beasts has finally come to an end. I am equal parts thrilled and sad about it. I’m not ready to leave this world yet. I adore this world and these characters so much that I would happily read tomes upon tomes of Aurelia, Savage, Ghoul, Lyle, Xander and Scythe’s HEA. If you love bonkers, why choose paranormal romance, then you need to do yourself a favour and pick this series up. And lucky for you, all the books are out now, so you can binge-read to your heart’s content because you’re gonna need it, especially with those killer cliffhanger endings.
