“Feeling wanted in this way was something I wasn’t sure I’d ever get, and having it now was addictive.”
I will start by saying that I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank so much Bex and L.E for sending a copy my way!
I never wanted an alpha, until I met him…
Jesse is the perfect boyfriend. Smart. Caring. Stupidly charming. And my diamond rank duo partner in the competitive shooter RPG that we have to thank for our relationship.
The catch? He’s a beta and not having an alpha has made my heats worse for months. I’m barely avoiding the awkward reality when Jesse introduces me to his best friend, Charlie—the alpha who, a year before, got me through my toughest heat yet, and I’ve been trying to forget about ever since.
How do you tell your beta boyfriend that their alpha best friend took your virginity? Especially when one look at him jumpstarts your heat in the middle of the mall?
But my relationship and potential new pack aren’t the only risks for casualties when my anonymous whale, Glitchd_Attraction69—a tipper who pays 90% of my bills through SLCK’d, a camming service explicitly designed for omegas—makes me an offer I can’t refuse.
Do I turn down my biggest supporter? Or do I take the offer for what it is—the EXP I need to level up, risking everything in the process?
One of us is getting played.
I had been wanting to read more after L.E. Eldridge after reading her instalment in the Hallow’s Cove series, so when I saw she was co-writing an omegaverse book, I knew I had to sign up. Game Over is an MMF omgeaverse which follows a couple of streams. It’s hot as hell, a little messy, and I had so much fun.
Jessie and Tara are in a relationship. Things go sideways when Jessie’s best friend and Alpha, Charlie, comes to town and Tara’s heat hits. Jessie and Tara agree to include Charlie in her heat. It’s a steamy good time until Tara bites Charlie, claiming him in her omega heat haze. And there begins the delicious mess. On top of this, there is secrets galore. Jessie is a little worried that since they are a beta, they aren’t enough for Tara, since famously, omegas need alphas when in heat. Charlie never has the guts to tell Jessie he’s always had feelings for them. Tara hasn’t told Jessie that Charlie is the alpha she spent her last heat at the heat clinic with. That’s because Charlie never called Tara after spending her heat together. He was putting on this alpha act, which isn’t really him. He’d much rather be ordered around. Queue the chaos!
Yes, there is miscommunication. I wanted to shake them all. I was practically screaming at them to talk to each other already! But it’s one of the few instances that it makes sense and feels authentic. Sometimes, it can be difficult to have those conversations about your feelings and needs in a relationship, especially if you are worried it could hurt the other person or end the relationship. I was cheering when they all finally opened up about their insecurities and set boundaries to ensure that they all get what they need.
I am not a video game girl and don’t really watch any streamers, but I loved getting a look behind the curtain at full-time content creation. Jessie and Tara are both video game streamers. Tara is also a cam girl on an OnlyFans-type website for omegas. I loved the insight. It’s a lot of work and not all that glamorous behind the scenes.
I loved the sex positivity here, especially with Tara’s second content income. Sprinkled throughout the mess are some hot as hell steamy scenes. Looking at you under the desk cam scene. There is a whole heap of kink in here including findom, which is a new one for me.
I adore how queer this story is. Jessie is nonbinary, and Charlie is bi. I also adore how Game Over subverts the typical gender norms of omegaverse. Charlie, despite being an Alpha, doesn’t feel comfortable being the dominant alpha male, which is perfectly fine for Tara, who has no problems taking charge.
I had so much fun with Game Over. I am excited to go back and read the prequel novella before continuing with the sequel. Which a little birdy told me includes masked men and primal play. If you are in the mood for a hot, messy omegaverse, look no further than Game Over.
