Hello!
I’m here today with another Lit Chat. This series was inspired by Lauren from Lauren and the Books over on YouTube and the Lit Chat cards created by BookRiot.
Today’s card is The Color Purple
Do you ever judge a book by it’s cover? (It’s ok we all do it.) Name a book you read that lived up to its cover. What about the cover made you pick it out?
Haha yeah I do all the time, especially when browsing book stores and I can sense that person shopping with me is getting bored. I scan the shelves and pick out the books that look like they have an historical fiction or fantasy kind of font to then pick up and read the spine.
First book that comes to mind is Circe by Madeline Miller because the UK hardcover is stunning but it’s not only the dust jacket as there is copper foiling on the cover and it’s stunning. For me I picked the UK cover over the US cover as I loved the foiling and I wasn’t a fan of the art style of the US.
Is there anything about a cover that immediately turns you off a book?
It’s not really a turn off per say but I don’t really like photos of people on my covers. So if I have choice between a cover with people on it and one that’s mostly text, I will choice that one that’s mostly text. 😂😂😂 Which is probably why I prefer the UK cover of the US cover of Circe.
That’s it for me. Comment down below and let me know what about a book cover would you turn you off a book?
Until next time, happy reading!
