Hi,

I’ve decided to take part in this challenge. I’ve been seeing it pop up all over the place and it look like a lot of fun.

I’ll be uploaded a post every fortnight or so to share with you both my most memorable titles and the books that are still on my TBR which corresponds to each letter of the alphabet.

Memorable Titles Starting with ‘A’

 

Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling #15) by Nalini Singh

This was the sweetest book in the series. It was like there was a break from all the drama and evil people trying to take over the world. So instead we got to catch up with all the couples we have met along the way and see they being all cute and domestic. I love it!

 

The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer 

I’m normally not one for self-help books, but I picked it up after a copy found it’s way to my work. This book is an extension of Amanda Palmer’s Ted talk of the same name. This really is an inspiring guide for humans of all kinds. Amanda knows first hand that asking is scary but also that it’s a gift that’s in constant circulation. This is a story I will return to again and again, whenever I’m looking for a pick-me-up.

 

Assassin’s Blade (Throne of Glass #0.1 – 0.5) by Sarah J. Maas 

I really did enjoy these prequel novellas. I think I read this after finishing Queen of Shadows. It was great to see all the adventures Celaena has been through, especially since some of these are mention in the series. A really nice addition to the series. If you haven’t read, I highly recommend.

 

The Anchoress by Robyn Cadwallader 

On pager this book doesn’t sound all the appealing to be honest. Set in in 1255 England, Sarah chooses to become an anchoress, a holy woman shut away in a cell that measures only seven by nine paces, at the side of the village church. A decision she made after the death of her sister and being pressured to marry. The writing in here is beautiful, I had to stop and re-read sections. Who knew Sarah could go through so much once she renounced the world. I cried so many times reading this book. I cannot wait to re-read this!

 

Afterlife (Evernight #4) by Claudia Gray

I haven’t read this series in quite some time, I think was 16 — it was during my Twilight phase — but I remember this being one of the favourite YA vampire series. This is the final book, it wrapped up well and wasn’t disappointing. I really enjoyed Gray’s writing and am interested to pick up her other works.

 

The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials #3) by Philip Pullman 

I picked up this series for the first time 2 years ago and I feel in love with the world! Pullman is a genius and the parallels he makes to religion is creative and really adds this extra depth. I feel like I need to re-read this series — since I read this in one sitting —and I’m sure I missed so much. Lyra is one of my all time favourite characters. The Amber Spyglass is an amazing conclusion to this series.

 

And I Darken (The Conqueror’s Saga #1) by Kiersten White 

This book is the first in an awesome series which is a gender-bent Vlad the Impaler retelling. Yep that’s right, Vlad the Impaler, the guy who’s gruesome acts inspired Dracula. I adored this book. The way White was able to capture the era and setting of the Ottoman Empire in the last 1400s was incredible as doesn’t detract from the plot at all.  Lada is a intensely complex character. She not overly likeable but I’m fascinated. I cannot wait to see how her character develops into the Impaler. Also love Radu, he’s so sweet!

 

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll 

I love anything and every Alice in Wonderland! I am in complete awe of Carroll’s creativity and that he was able to create Wonderland. Not counting if family members read this to me, I read this and the sequel, Through the Looking Glass, a few years ago when I was in Uni. The writing style is just as crazy as Wonderland and it really goes to show how you can piece together the meaning of word based on the sentence it’s in. If you haven’t read the original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland please do, it’s truly whimsical and enjoyable experience.

I’m not going to talk about them individual because it would just be me rambling about how excited I am to get to these books and I’m sure you have more enlightening things to do with your time.
