Waiting on Wednesday | A Tapestry of Treason

Today I thought I join in Waiting on Wednesday. Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme that originally created by Jill at Breaking the Spine but has since been adapted with Can’t Wait Wednesday by Teresa at Wishful Endings.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature that showcases upcoming release that we are dying to get to!

A Tapestry of Treason by Anne O’Brien

Tapestry of Treason

Published by: HQ Publishing

Publication date: 22 August 2019

1399: Constance of York, Lady Despenser, proves herself more than a mere observer in the devious intrigues of her magnificently dysfunctional family, The House of York.

Surrounded by power-hungry men, including her aggressively self-centred husband Thomas and ruthless siblings Edward and Richard, Constance places herself at the heart of two treasonous plots against King Henry IV.  Will it be possible for this Plantagenet family to safeguard its own political power by restoring either King Richard II to the throne, or the precarious Mortimer claimant?

Although the execution of these conspiracies will place them all in jeopardy, Constance is not deterred, even when the cost of her ambition threatens to overwhelm her.  Even when it endangers her new-found happiness.

With treason, tragedy, heartbreak and betrayal, this is the story of a woman ahead of her time, fighting for herself and what she believes to be right in a world of men.

Why I can’t wait to read this

Anne O’Brien is one of my all time favourite historical fiction writers. She has this way of bring the character and historical setting. I do like how she focuses on the female characters who are largely forgotten in history. They also do help to move the plot along.

This book is set in a time period I haven’t read a lot about. It’s the very start of the division between the Royal Houses of York and Lancaster. I’m excited to see what role Constance plays in the conflict between the cousins, Richard II and Henry IV.

That’s it for me. Comment down below and let me know which books release date you cannot wait for.

Until next time, happy reading!
