Lit Chat: The Book Thief

Hello!

I’m here today with another Lit Chat. This series was inspired by Lauren from Lauren and the Books over on YouTube and the Lit Chat cards created by BookRiot.

Today’s card is The Book Thief

Do you prefer to borrow books from the library or buy them? If you buy books, where do you get them?

I do prefer to buy books, but that’s not to say I don’t love the library. I love owning books and keeping my 5 star books so I can reread them any time I want.

I buy my books from a ton of places, Book Depository, Booktopia, secondhand book stores, Robinsons Bookstore, Dymocks are the main places I get my books from.

Describe your ideal bookstore or library.

My ideal bookstore is the love child of a Robinsons Bookstore and the Dymock on Collins Street in Melbourne.

Robinsons book store has this amazing dark wooden bookcases. The cases against the walls are wall to ceiling with rolling ladders. It definitely gives Belle’s Library vibes.

What I love about the Dymocks, is that it pretty much takes up the whole basement of this building and has a cafe. They have so many books and I could and have spent hours in there.

So basically my ideal bookstore takes up the whole floor with bookcases filled with an extensive list of books — not just the popular titles. The bookcases look like their out of Belle’s Library or one of the college libraries from the 1800s. There’s also a cafe because who doesn’t want a book surrounding you when having a coffee.
