Quarterly Check-in

Hello,

Today I thought I give a little update my reading challenges and overall stats for the second quarter of the year. Can you believe it is July already!!

This is the second part of this series. I decided to do this because A Year in Review posts are one of my favourite posts to do I thought I would do it on a somewhat regular basis.

Also there are pie charts! Yay for charts!

These stats look at all the books I’ve read so far in 2019, with a little disclaimer that not all the books have been released in 2019.

Star Ratings

Star Rating

I’m still pretty lucky that most of the books I’ve read being 4 or 4.5 stars — 15 of my read books I’ve given 4 stars and 8 have received 4.5 stars. My newest lowest rated is Vicious by L.J. Shen

My average rating is 4 stars.

5 star reads

Here are my 5 star reads from April, May and June !

Genres Read

Genre

No surprise that my top genre for the second quarter is also Romance. I have recently discovered the genre and have been working my way through lots of different series and different author’s back catalogues.

To break the genres down, I have read 25 romance books, 12 fantasy, 1 poetry, 1 non fiction and 1 literary book.

Target Audience

Age Range

Since most of the romance book I’ve been reading are New Adult or Adult fiction it’s no real surprise that I’m reading mostly adult fiction. I will say, I do want to read more books off my shelf so would love to get to more YA and Middle Grade the next quarter.

Formate

Format

Now this shocked me. I have no idea that I’ve been reading mostly eBooks — with 27 of the books I’ve read being eBook and the 2 ARCs I’ve read have been in a digital format. Again I would love to prioritise reading more of the books I have on my shelves.

Series or Standalone

This quarter there is a tie between first books —16 — and sequels —17 —, which is starting to stress me out since I have a horrible habit of not finishing series.

Also for the record, I read 7 standalone books.

Until next time, happy reading!
