“It’s a good thing my feelings for you aren’t small, and I would never want you to make yourself less.”

I will start by saying that I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own. Thank you so much to Emilia, Putnam and NetGalley!

She’s always dreamed of a soft life.

They’re determined to provide it for her.

Lucy Andersson-Spring’s twenty-ninth birthday comes with a side helping of a quarter-life crisis. She loves her community, her sewing shop, and her secret social media account featuring Starlight Grove’s cat mayor, but maybe she needs to be more ambitious, more self-sufficient. At least, that’s what the alphas she dated last year kept saying . . . before they cheated on her.

Lucy is determined this year will be a fresh start, but her quest to leave her romantic dreams behind keeps being thwarted. First, a disastrous camping trip leaves her stranded with Wilder, the reserved fire chief. Then, a grumpy businessman named King bursts into her shop with a desperate proposal. And then there’s Leo, the cute florist who brings her bouquets, but never the dinner invitation she hopes for.

Like Lucy, these guys are facing crossroads in their lives, but when their hesitancy in wooing the stunning omega leaves her feeling rejected all over again, they realize they can’t live without her. Determined to win her over, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, complete with a meddlesome cat, mischievous bunny, and bizarrely specific horoscopes, to become a pack worthy of her.

A Pack for Spring is exactly the pick-me-up I needed. Coming back to this series feels like a warm hug. I’ve been dying for this since I finished the ARC for A Pack for Winter back in 2024. The wait was worth it. I ate up every moment.

Lucy has recently turned 29, and she’s hit with a little quarter-life crisis. She loves her town, her friends, her sewing shop, and her secret social media account for the cat mayor, Felix. But something doesn’t feel quite right. The alphas she dated last year kept saying that she needed to be more ambitious and independent before they went and cheated on her. And because of these garbage alphas, Lucy worries she is too much. Too girly. Too dependent. She’s determined to have a fresh start, leaving behind her romantic dreams in hopes of being taken seriously. But it’s like the moment she tells the universe (or more likely Felix) that love is not for her, she’s had meet-cutes with handsome strangers. First, a catastrophic camping trip leaves her rescued by the reserved fire chief, Wilder. Then grumpy CEO, King, bursts into her shop with a desperate proposal—he needs a tux and a date. And then we have our sweet beta, Leo. He owns the florist nearby. He brings her flowers but never asks her out, like she’s been dying for. Lucy, Wilder, King and Leo are all at a crossroads in their lives. Their hesitancy in wooing Lucy leaves her feeling repeatedly rejected. Will they pull their act together, form a pack and prove to Lucy that she is their happily ever after?

Lucy is such a ray of sunshine. She’s the optimist of the girl group, the hopeless romantic who believes that everything will work out. But what those close to her don’t know is that she’s hurting. The comments from her exes and the offhand remarks her family make made her feel like people don’t take her seriously. Even though she has owned a successful clothing and tailoring store for years. Lucy is unapologetically girly and loves being an omega. Which is something she shies away from during her crisis. I loved how the guys could help her embrace that again, showing her she’s perfect the way she is.

Wilder, Leo and King, much like Lucy, are navigating personal issues and aren’t looking for romance. Wilder is the town’s fire chief. He’s your typical brooding mountain man. Wilder has high levels of alpha pheromones, which means his alpha instincts are stronger. He’s worried that he could be dangerous, which is why he lives in an isolated location and chomps on rut suppressants like they are Tic Tacs. Leo is a beta. He was an open-ocean rescuer until an accident left him unable to walk. He’s struggling with the fact that he’s disabled and is slowly picking up the pieces of his life. Leo is throwing himself into physio, hoping his injury will fully heal. While he’s still injured, he refuses to date, despite being obsessed with Lucy and King. I was sobbing when King brought him a new walking stick, and all the little ways the pack showed Leo that his injury doesn’t make him less than. And then we have King, our grumpy, overworked billionaire. King is in town, in the process of selling off some land in his parents’ estate. Despite taking time off work after his parents’ death, he’s constantly called into meetings and events. He doesn’t know how to switch off because he’s always pushed himself, hoping he will finally have his parents’ love and affection.

Poor Felix was working overtime to get these hot messes together. After the guys are hesitant in pursuing Lucy, I love the way she puts her foot down. She knows her worth and refuses to be strung along while they figure their shit out. I adore the build-a-pack moment we have in here. And the way they grovelled was *chef’s kiss*. This why choose comes with a side of MM, which I adore. You’ll find all your favourite omegaverse elements here, like heats and knots.

I am like a broken record at this stage, but you all know that I don’t love a small-town romance, yet I am head over heels in love with Starlight Grove. Given the chance, I’d move there in a heartbeat. I loved all the moments we got from the other girls—Olive, Ivy and Summer. The way they sneakily helped our pack of beautifully clueless guys via horoscopes was amazing. Felix is still hands down one of my favourite characters. I’m obsessed with Felix getting a little sidekick in Blossom, an adorable bunny. The way she terrorises King is hilarious.

I bow down to Emilia Emerson! The way she balances the sweet but spicy romance with some tough topics and her signature disability rep is perfection. And done so seamlessly. I love how Emilia highlighted her Iranian heritage through Leo and his family. They have fast become some of my favourite characters.

I think I’ve rambled on long enough, recounting all the ways I adore A Pack for Spring. We are three books down with just one remaining! I am equally excited and nervous for A Pack for Summer. What will become of me when this series ends?

If you love your omegaverse on the cosy side with a delicious and messy why choose dynamic, an incredible girl group and the cutest and most devious meddling cat, then the cozyverse series is for you! Trust me.
