This year marks the second year of O.W.L.s readthon which is hosted on BookTube by G from Book Roast. It’s a month long Harry Potter themed readathon where each for each book you read, you pass one of your O.W.L exams. To pass the readathon, you will have to get your OWL in 2 subjects. This will get you at the Acceptable level. Six books will get you an Exceeded Expectations, where 9 will get you an Outstanding.
This year, not only has G assigned reading prompts from each exam, she has also added new level of interaction with the addition of Wizarding Careers. These include Hogwarts Professor, Broom Maker, Ministry Work or Alchemist to name a few. The career you chose will determine which O.W.L.s you need to pass and in which subjects.
This is a month long readathon — from 1st April to 30th April — so penalty of time to pass the exams you need for your required career.
I am jumping into this super last minute but I’m so excited for this challenge!
Okay, picking a career was a lot harder than I originally thought. There are too many awesome careers to choose from. The career I will work towards is Magizoologist
A magizoologist is a person who dedicates their life to studying, investigating and protecting magical creatures. The majority of wizards decide to focus on a specific favourite species after a couple of decades of studying the broader spectrum of fantastic beasts.
This is an occupation for those with an inborn affinity to animals, those who are not afraid of the occasional injury.
As a magizoologist, you will find yourself travelling all over the world in search of creatures and participating in magizoology expeditions with fellow researchers.
Adorable creatures and travelling the world, sounds amazing. For this career the O.W.L.s I need to pass are: Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology and Potions
The books I’ll be reading are:
Care of Magical Creatures ~ Land animal on the Cover
Charms ~ Age-line: read an adult work
Herbology ~ Plant on the cover
Potions ~ Next ingredient: sequel
That’s all for me. Comment down below and let me know if you’re taken part in the O.W.L.s and which magical career you would choose.
Until next time, happy reading!
