Hello,
This is the time of year for either reflection or looking ahead to the new year. And this post will be one of the looking ahead ones. Lets have a look at my most anticipated released for 2020
This won’t be a definitive list of all the releases I’m interested in. I do have a more definitive list and add to it throughout the year. This list lives under the Anticipated Reads tab.
Warning my thoughts on these books and why I’m excited will some time be incoherent ramblings of excitement. I’ll also include the currently available synopsis of each of these books.
Each photo is linked to the corresponding goodreads pages. So if you like the sound of it, you can add it to your goodreads TBR
They are listed in release order. Also these may be subject to change
Love Her or Lose Her
Author: Tessa Bailey
Publisher: Avon
Expected Release Date: 14 January 2020
Rosie and Dominic Vega are the perfect couple: high school sweethearts, best friends, madly in love. Well, they used to be anyway. Now Rosie’s lucky to get a caveman grunt from the ex-soldier every time she walks in the door. Dom is faithful and a great provider, but the man she fell in love with ten years ago is nowhere to be found. When her girlfriends encourage Rosie to demand more out of life and pursue her dream of opening a restaurant, she decides to demand more out of love, too. Three words: marriage boot camp.
Never in a million years did Rosie believe her stoic, too-manly-to-emote husband would actually agree to relationship rehab with a weed-smoking hippy. Dom talking about feelings? Sitting on pillows? Communing with nature? Learning love languages? Nope. But to her surprise, he’s all in, and it forces her to admit her own role in their cracked foundation. As they complete one ridiculous—yet surprisingly helpful—assignment after another, their remodeled relationship gets stronger than ever. Except just as they’re getting back on track, Rosie discovers Dom has a secret… and it could demolish everything.
I read Fix Her Up last year and fell in love with Tessa Bailey’s writing! She has complex characters, banter and plenty of steamy scenes. We have seen a little bot of Rosie and Dominic already, I’m interested to see more from them. Also what I love about this book, the couple are married and the plot is about them reconnecting and staying together, which is refreshing as most romances are about couples getting together.
Havenfall
Author: Sara Holland
Publisher:Bloomsbury YA
Expected Release Date: 03 March 2019
Hidden deep in the mountains of Colorado lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds–each with their own magic–together. For generations, the inn has protected all who seek refuge within its walls, and any who disrupt the peace can never return.
For Maddie Morrow, summers at the inn are more than a chance to experience this magic first-hand. Havenfall is an escape from reality, where her mother sits on death row accused of murdering Maddie’s brother. It’s where Maddie fell in love with handsome Fiorden soldier Brekken. And it’s where one day she hopes to inherit the role of Innkeeper from her beloved uncle.
But this summer, the impossible happens–a dead body is found, shattering everything the inn stands for. With Brekken missing, her uncle gravely injured, and a dangerous creature on the loose, Maddie suddenly finds herself responsible for the safety of everyone in Havenfall. She’ll do anything to uncover the truth, even if it means working together with an alluring new staffer Taya, who seems to know more than she’s letting on. As dark secrets are revealed about the inn itself, one thing becomes clear to Maddie–no one can be trusted, and no one is safe . . .
I adored Sara Holland’s first book, Evermore. She’s able to create interesting fantasy worlds and magic systems. This book has 4 magical realms—so potentially a portal fantasy yay!— and a girl who’s sworn to protect it. Also how stunning is this cover! I’m dying!
House of Earth and Blood
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
Expected Release Date: 03 March 2020
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.
Sarah J. Maas always seems to creates these sexy Fae warrior who I cannot help but add them to my book boyfriends. She writes compelling romances within interesting fantasy worlds so I’m excited for this. It’s the first book of her adult fantasy series. I don’t know too much about it, apart from the blurb, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy this.
Undercover Bromance
Author: Lyssa Kay Adams
Publisher: Berkley
Expected Release Date: 10 March 2020
Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef.
Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic nightclub entrepreneur offers to help expose her ex-boss, but she is suspicious of his motives. He’ll need to call in reinforcements: the Bromance Book Club.
Inspired by the romantic suspense novel they’re reading, the book club assists Liv in setting up a sting operation to take down the chef. But they’re just as eager to help Mack figure out the way to Liv’s heart. . .even though she’s determined to squelch the sparks between them before she gets burned.
This is one of the best concepts for a romance novel series ever! Men forming a book club which reads romance novels to be able to understand the women is their lives and to keep their relationships afloat. This book is inspired by a romantic suspense and I’m sure like the first book we’ll have excepts of the novel the book. We have met both Liv and Barden in The Bromance Book Club and I’m excited to see how they’re relation forms as they have enemies to lovers vibe.
Ruthless Gods
Author: Emily A. Duncan
Publisher: Wednesday Books
Expected Release Date: 07 April 2020
Nadya doesn’t trust her magic anymore. Serefin is fighting off a voice in his head that doesn’t belong to him. Malachiasz is at war with who–and what–he’s become.
As their group is continually torn apart, the girl, the prince, and the monster find their fates irrevocably intertwined. They’re pieces on a board, being orchestrated by someone… or something. The voices that Serefin hears in the darkness, the ones that Nadya believes are her gods, the ones that Malachiasz is desperate to meet—those voices want a stake in the world, and they refuse to stay quiet any longer.
I have needed to get my hands on a copy of the book since the moment after I finished Wicked Saints, which leaves on a massive cliffhanger. This is a Russian inspired fantasy world with a Joan of Arc twist. We have two very different magic systems in this book. First off we have the Kalyazin’s clerics who pray to their gods and bestowed power. The Tranavia’s have a much darker magic, blood mages. The blood mages who need blood to unlock their spells. I’m interested to see more for both these magic systems. I love Duncan’s writing style — it’s lush, lyrical and gothic. I think I will re-read the first book before this one arrives!

This a new fantasy duet by Wednesday Books which I’m pretty sure I’m going to love because magical circuses! There is also a mystery element with the missing magicians. I’m excited for this. I just recently finished The Beautiful and I loved it. Also cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next. Ahdeih has brought to life the lush and glamorous world of 1800s New Orleans. I adore Celine, she is feisty and won’t let society’s rule dictate her life. Also the fact that vampires have made their comeback to young adult fantasy makes my heart so happy!

I’ve been waiting for this book for what feels like ages, it has been pushed back twice so far so I really hope this release date. Empire of the Vampire
Author: Jay Kristoff
Publisher: Harper Voyager
Expected Release Date: 03 September 2020
Twenty-seven years have passed since the last sunrise, and for almost three decades, the creatures of the night have walked the day without fear. Once, humanity fought bravely against the coldblood legions, but now, we exist only in a few scattered settlements—tiny sparks of light in a growing sea of darkness.
Gabriel de León is the last of the Silversaints, a holy order dedicated to defending realm and church, now utterly destroyed. Imprisoned for the murder of the vampiric king, Gabriel is charged with telling the story of his life.
His tale spans years, from his youth in the monastery of San Michel, to the forbidden love that spelled his undoing, and the betrayal that saw his order annihilated. Most importantly, Gabriel will tell of his discovery of the Grail—the legendary cup prophesied to bring an end to the eternal night.
But the Grail was no simple chalice; and its secret was held by a smart-mouthed teenage urchin named Dior. Their journey with a band of unlikely allies would see Dior and Gabriel forge an unbreakable bond, and set the broken paragon on a road to redemption.
But now, the Grail is shattered. And with the cup of the Savior destroyed and the last Silversaint awaiting execution, what can bring an end to this unholy empire?
I have yet to read any of Jay Kristoff’s work — I know, I know how could I? — but honestly this sound fantastic! It’s described as the bastard lovechild of Interview with a Vampire, The Road and The Name of the Wind and honestly it’s a combination I didn’t know I needed until now. We have a monk who’s assassinated the vampire king and I cannot wait to see how that story unfolds. I’m thrilled that vampires are slowly making their literary comeback.
That’s all for me. I might do another of one these for the later half of the year. Let me know what book releases you’re looking forward coming out in 2020!
Until next time,
Happy reading!
