“…you haunt my dreams in the best way.”
I will start by saying that I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank so much Kass and Hallow Cove’s PR team for sending a copy my way!
Nothing says best friends forever like a pregnancy pact…
Being a widow is the best thing that’s ever happened to Gwen. Except to keep her game store, she needs a baby–specifically, an heir. She must be rolling with advantage though, because her gargoyle best friend just happens to be her dead husband’s half brother. Keeping things platonic will be hard, but after her critical fail with her first husband, can she trust her own insight?
Between leading his group through untold perils in the dungeon and helping friends navigate their own issues, Gabe’s usually rolling high on intellect… but his lifelong feelings for Gwen had always left him rolling low. Charisma has never been his highest stat, but does Gabe have the initiative to show Gwen that he’s worth risking her heart?
He can certainly try.
Two best friends, the adventure of a lifetime, and one pregnancy pact with a deceptively low difficulty rating. Will they be able to add +1 to their party and their hearts, or have they been rolling at disadvantage from the start?
I am enjoying this cozy small town, monster romance series. Gaming with the Gargoyle was a fantastic addition. I am not normally a huge fan of pregnancy in my romance but this was a fun time.
Gwen is a widow & it’s kind of the best thing to ever happen to her. Her husband was manipulative & a cheater. Thankfully Gwen her has best friend & brother-in-law, Gabe & their game store. However, her husband’s will state she can keep the store only if she has an heir. Thank gods for legal loopholes & brothers. Gwen strikes up a pregnancy pact. No feelings needed. Gwen is not ready to trust her instincts after her disastrous marriage. However, Gabe, between helping to run the game store & designing his own tabletop game, he has been in love with Gwen for so long. Cue the chaos.
Gwen is going through a lot. She’s a widow but starting to understand that her husband as kind of a piece of shit. She’s made herself smaller in her marriage because she was too plus size, too nerdy. I loved seeing her find her confidence & learn to love herself.
If you love a sweet man who ends up being a beast – pun full intended – in the sheets. Gabe is the man for you. He’s worried Gwen sees him as a just friend. He doesn’t want to make his move too soon while she could be grieving. This pact gives him the perfect chance to shoot his shot & boy does he give it his all.
This is heavy on the breeding kink just letting you know if that’s not your thing. So the stream to be steaming. On the flip side, there is a really sweet relationship. I am in awe of how Kass was able to portray the history of their relationship. Also that grand gesture scene was the sweetest, most nerdy thing I’ve ever read.
I am having the best time with this series. You know me, if I’m reading a small town romance you best believe there will be monster. These are the perfect pick me up. Highly recommend squeezing one – or more – onto your spooky season TBR!
